«airBaltic» Passengers Approaches 4.5 Million in 2023

Summarizing the year 2023, the Latvian national airline airBaltic announces that the previous year has continued the company’s purposeful growth and development. Preliminary data shows that in 2023, airBaltic carried approximately 4.5 million passengers, which is a 36% increase compared to 2022. In the last 12 months, the airline performed over 44 thousand flights – 18% more than the year before.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic: “Overall, 2023 proved to be a year of significant milestones. Firstly, we expanded our network, offering over 100 direct routes, an all-time high, from home cities Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Tampere, and now – seasonally from Gran Canaria. Secondly, the number of passengers consistently increased, approaching 4.5 million. At airBaltic, our commitment extends beyond connecting the Baltics with the world, as we also we aim to continuously enhance passenger experiences and make substantial contributions to the economy. Last year's achievements reflect our ongoing dedication to these goals.”

“As we look ahead to 2024, our full attention is devoted to the active path we have recently embarked on towards the contemplated Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the company’s shares. Thus, we are determined to deliver even greater excellence and further strengthen airBaltic as the leading airline and brand of the Baltics,” M. Gauss concluded.

Moreover, in December 2023, airBaltic carried 339 300 passengers, an 18% increase compared to the same period last year. During the winter season, when the demand traditionally declines, consistently stable indicators of transported passengers can still be observed within a single month. As the rounded preliminary data shows, in December, airBaltic performed 3 600 flights, marking a 14% increase from the previous year.

A wider review of statistics for 2023 will be published in the second half of January.

airBaltic operates more than 100 routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and Tampere, offering connections to a wide range of destinations in the airline's route network in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
