«airBaltic» Traffic and Operational Figures – May 2025

Highlights in May 2025 vs May 2024

•    Passenger numbers in May increased by 6%, reaching 458 900.

•    The number of operated flights slightly decreased by 0.4%.

•    Load factor increased by 3.4 percentage points.

In May 2025, Latvian airline airBaltic carried 458 900 passengers across all its bases, representing a 6% increase compared to May 2024. The airline operated approximately 4 300 flights, a slight year-on-year decrease of 0.4%, primarily due to network optimization. Despite the minor reduction in flight volume, airBaltic improved its operational efficiency, with the load factor rising by 3.4 percentage points to 78.6% – the highest result ever recorded by the airline in May. The increase in passenger numbers, and a higher load factor, highlights sustained demand for airBaltic’s services.

In May 2025, airBaltic reached a flight regularity of 99.86%, which is an improvement of 0.10%, reflecting the airline’s strong operational reliability across its network.

In the first five months of 2025 (January-May), airBaltic carried 1 864 000 passengers across all its bases – an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. This represents the highest number of passengers the airline has ever recorded during the first five months of any year.

Recently, airBaltic announced plans to expand its network with three new destinations for the upcoming winter season (late October 2025 to late March 2026), adding new routes from Riga (Latvia) to Faro (Portugal), from Tallinn (Estonia) to Madeira (Portugal), and from Gran Canaria (Spain) to Ljubljana (Slovenia).

In addition, the airline will expand its operations in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) by significantly increasing flight frequencies from Riga to daily service, and doubling capacity from Vilnius with four weekly flights between the two cities. airBaltic also plans to enhance connectivity to Amsterdam from all three Baltic capitals – offering 19 weekly flights from Riga, and 14 weekly flights from Tallinn and Vilnius each.

airBaltic operates nearly 130 routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere, and, seasonally, Gran Canaria, offering connections to a wide range of destinations in the airline's route network in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
