Tallinn Airport transferred to the winter flight schedule, which brought about changes in the flight frequency of several airlines. In the winter period passengers can fly to 23 international and local destinations from Tallinn.
Starting from 18 November Estonian Air will add three daily flights between Tallinn and Vilnius. Additional flights that depart from Tallinn at 17:30 and return from Vilnius at 19:20 will be operated on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Total number of weekly return flights between those destinations will increase to eight.
For the winter period Estonian Air has suspended most of its flights to Hamburg and Dublin. There will be a couple of flights to Dublin during the period of higher demand in December 2008 and January 2009. Polish airline LOT stopped its flights to Warsaw and Lithuanian airline FlyLAL cancelled its regular flights to Vilnius.
Budget airline Easyjet stopped its flights to Berlin from 3 November. The company has not announced yet whether the flights will resume in spring. As usual, Estonian Air flights to Paris, Simferopol, Dubrovnik, Rome and Barcelona (the latter until 15 February) will be cancelled for the winter period.
There will also be no flights on the Kuressaare-Stockholm line in the winter season.
Lufthansa recently named the passenger and aircraft servicing by AS Tallinn Airport GH, a subsidiary of AS Tallinna Lennujaam, the most punctual in the world. The services offered by Tallinn Airport proved to be the best among the 960 airports in the world to which Lufthansa flies.
The assessment criteria included the punctuality of departing flights, check-in speed and accuracy, luggage search efficiency, boarding convenience, adherence to security requirements and many others. Finnair has also given this title to Tallinn Airport several times.
