Water tourism is
currently very popular in Birštonas. The number of water routes has been
increasing and a bigger number of entrepreneurs have been offering
their services in the bodies of water.
Regular
routes by steamboat “Vytenis” and pleasure boat “Justina” have been
organised several years in a row. These boats carry passengers along the
Rivers Nemunas and Verknė.
In
response to the current trends, entrepreneurs have been organising other
routes as well. Tourists have also been offered a wider range of ships
and boats.
The major novelty of
this water tourism season is a pleasure cruise KAUNAS-BIRŠTONAS-KAUNAS.
The first trip is scheduled on 24 June, St John's Day. This cruise
has received great attention; as much as 75 per cent of tickets have
already been sold to the first trip. During the all-day-long trip,
passengers will have an exceptional opportunity to enjoy the view of the
fabulous loops of the River Nemunas, become acquainted with the objects
of interest in Birštonas, and have a good time with family and friends.
Further
information about this trip (time of departure, route programmes and
prices) is available at the e-shop of Kaunas Tourism Information Centre
and Convention Bureau at:

Tourists are also offered individual trips by Viking and Dragon boats.
This
season, kayak rental “Plauk baidare žemyn upe” offers
cognitive-recreational kayak trips along the River Verknė. On all summer
Sundays, trips will be organised for Birštonas guests and everybody who
is interested in knowing Birštonas surroundings by water.
When
kayaking, it is worth seeing the objects of interest in our region:
Paverkniai Hillfort, Monkey Bridge, White Mound, “Ožkų pečius”
(Goats' Stove).
You will enjoy the view of the confluence of the Rivers Verknė and Nemunas and see Birštonas from a different perspective.
Birštonas also offers the rental of rowing boats, pedalos and kayaks.
Rural tourism homesteads “Punios aidas” and “Plaukiam Verkne” offer kayaking along the River Verknė.
The recreational boating season lasts until the beginning of November.
