In May 2020, the European Final of the world's most prestigious gastronomic competition, Bocuse d'Or, will arrive in Estonia for the first time. In addition to the best chefs of Europe, the event, which will be broadcasted live to more than 20 million people, will attract a host of influencers from around the world.
According to Florent Suplisson, the director of Bocuse d'Or, Estonia is shown itself to be a competitive country that has proved its cuisine's great potential in a relatively short period. "We are very pleased to offer Estonia the opportunity to enrich the world with new flavours and new makers. These are also the arguments that became decisive in the transfer of Bocuse d'Or 2020 European Final organizing rights to Estonia this year", explained Suplisson.

According to Dimitri Demjanov, the member of board of Bocuse d'Or Europe Tallinn 2020, this great spring event will bring thousands of food enthusiasts, journalists, and top professionals from around the world to Tallinn. "This is an opportunity for Estonia to break onto the international gastronomy map. I hope that the best makers in the Estonian food industry will find the strength and skills to make the most of it," commented Demjanov.
Margus Sameli, the director of Estonian Tourist Board, says the fact that the top event of the cooking world will be held in Tallinn is proof that Estonia is among the best in gastronomy of Europe. "The Estonian food industry has been working hard for years to bring the Bocuse d'Or to Estonia, and now it's bearing fruit. Great events like this have a remarkable impact on the Estonian tourism industry and the economy as a whole, and I am convinced that thanks to the different big events we will receive significantly more visitors in the future," said Sameli.
Estonia will be represented at this year's Bocuse d'Or competition by Artur Kazaritski, who currently works as a sous chef at the three Michelin-star restaurant Geranium in Copenhagen, under Bocuse d'Or's three-time winner Rasmus Kofoed.
Bocuse d'Or Europe Tallinn 2020 takes place from 28th to 29th May in Saku Suurhall. Top chefs from 20 European countries take part in the competition, and the top 11 finishers will qualify.
Bocuse d'Or is the world's most prestigious culinary competition, launched in 1987 by world-famous French chef Paul Bocuse. Inspired by the captivating atmosphere of the sports events, Paul Bocuse decided to organize an entertaining show focused on the art of cooking and the mastery of top chefs.
Every two years the Bocuse d'Or Grand Finale brings to Lyon, Paul Bocuse's hometown, together 24 best chefs from all over the world, who make their entries in front of the spectators. Estonia has a unique opportunity to host the European Final in May 2020 in Tallinn.
